Family Support Available

Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard offers many free services to island residents and
their visitors.  Some of these services include grief and bereavement support for individuals and families before and after a death has occurred.
Anticipatory Grief is the process by which people begin to grieve before an expected death.  Family members cope differently with Anticipatory Grief. Bereavement support can help families through this difficult process.
Grief involves experiencing emotions. Bereavement includes the time and actions involved in coping with the emotions and the losses we have endured.  The grief and bereavement program at Hospice MV currently offers services that help all persons manage these feelings and processes.  These services are available for persons of all ages, ethnicities and belief systems,  whether or not Hospice services preceded the loss(es).
Through my years of dedication to the study of grief and bereavement, I can tell you emphatically that time passes; time does not heal.  In the passing of time, we develop strategies that help us cope with the loss(es) in our lives. If you choose to work through your grief by utilizing the services at Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, I will be available to help you in this process
